Therapeutic Yoga is a safe, positive classroom environment where principles of yoga are introduced and adapted for all bodies, backgrounds and abilities. As a Structural Yoga Therapist certified by Mukunda Stiles in 2008, I create a meaningful, philosophically rich class experience for ALL students who may be managing illness, injury or other physical limitations. I do not promise yoga will heal you, but I do promise you will feel safe, cared for and acknowledged. This is THE class for EVERY BODY, no matter what you’re navigating or how long it’s been since you practiced.

Therapeutic Yoga is the best option for anyone who might be a little uncomfortable in a typical yoga class, anyone dealing with injury or illness, or anyone who may be navigating a loss or major life change. You will experience gentle, accessible movements in a philosophically rich environment, supported by yogic principles such as non-harming, compassion and self-acceptance. Students often report relief from stress and pain, a deep sense of rest and a better understanding of their own physical and mental function. Therapeutic Yoga makes the practice accessible to anyone and can support a variety of situations including:

  1. You have been discharged from PT and are still regaining strength and mobility after an injury
  2. You need a knowledgeable teacher who can help you navigate back issues, sciatica, shoulder injuries, etc.
  3. You want an alternative to a fast-moving yoga class
  4. You've been away from yoga/exercise for a while
  5. You seek a supportive environment where you won't feel that you're holding back the class or slowing anyone down
  6. You'd like to learn techniques for a more regulated nervous system
  7. You want to make use of yoga principles in everyday life

Shadow Yoga I

Designed for beginners, Shadow Yoga I teaches important principles that pave the way for ongoing learning. Shadow Yoga I classes build strength and mobility in the body, cultivate freedom in the hip and shoulder girdles and build the inner fire known as agni. Community Sangha

Sangha traditionally referred to a gathering of like-minded people, and we have revived this tradition at Continuum Shadow Yoga Studio. Scheduled for one Friday per month, this free, open forum is intended for anyone interested in the philosophy of yoga and its application in everyday life. The discussion centers around a topic of interest such as non-harming, cultivating contentment, etc., and you can share as little or as much as you like. No dogma, no prerequisites, just come as you are.
